We’re excited to announce a strategic partnership between Hathor Network and BitcoinOS (BOS), the modular and programmable layer for Bitcoin. Together, we’re laying the foundation for native Bitcoin liquidity and cross-chain token portability between the Hathor Network and Bitcoin’s emerging DeFi ecosystem.
This collaboration will integrate BOS and Charms, a Bitcoin-based token issuance protocol, with Hathor Network’s Nano Contracts and native UTXO architecture, enabling frictionless movement of assets between the two chains.
Unlocking New Opportunities for Bitcoin and Hathor Ecosystems
The integration of BOS and Charms with Hathor Network will unlock several key benefits for both ecosystems:
- xBTC on Hathor:
Hathor users and developers will soon be able to leverage xBTC, a tokenized Bitcoin asset from BitcoinOS issued via Charms. This opens the door for Bitcoin’s 2.1 trillion in native liquidity to power Hathor-based DeFi apps, including trading, lending, and payment use cases with fewer intermediaries and higher trust minimization than traditional wrapped BTC solutions. - Uniting Bitcoin and Hahor’s Token Ecosystems
- Using Charms, Bitcoin-based tokens will be able to migrate to Hathor network, and Hathor native tokens can migrate to Bitcoin, gaining access to Bitcoin-based DEXs, wallets, and emerging apps built around Bitcoin DeFi.
A Shared Vision of Modular, Scalable, UTXO-Based Innovation
Both BitcoinOS and Hathor share a common vision: bringing advanced programmability and liquidity to UTXO-based networks, without sacrificing decentralization, scalability, or simplicity.
BitcoinOS uses zero-knowledge proofs and modular execution layers to expand Bitcoin’s capabilities, while Hathor leverages its novel Nano Contracts — lightweight smart contracts designed for scalability and ease of use within a UTXO architecture.
This deep technical alignment allows the two ecosystems to collaborate seamlessly, fostering cross-chain interoperability while respecting each protocol’s core design principles.
Phased Approach with a Focus on Marketing and Long-Term Development
This partnership will begin with joint marketing efforts and technical exploration, allowing both communities to discover the benefits of this collaboration early on.
Given current roadmap priorities, Hathor Network plans to begin deeper technical work on this integration in Q4 2025 or later, aligning with the evolution of both ecosystems.
In the meantime, we’ll be working closely with the BitcoinOS team to share updates, co-create educational content, and highlight the future potential of this integration.
